Trying to figure out what to do with your hair while on vacation can sometimes get a little overwhelming. Spending hours at a beach or pool or in a different climate can do a number on your hair. Not only that, but styling your hair can get a little difficult, especially when you are limited on the products and tools you can bring with you. That is why I rounded up my top vacation hairstyles to bring you three quick and easy tutorials that will have you looking fabulous. Best of all is that you will only need a couple of really affordable tools and products that can be found at Target.
What you will need to pack:
Clairol Hair Food Shampoo and Conditioner: Treating your hair before and during your trip is so important. The Hair Food shampoo and conditioner is perfect for that. They are silicon free, paraben free, mineral oil free, dye free, and gluten free. I prefer the Hair Milk infused with jasmine and vanilla fragrance. These ingredients are great for smoothing and hydrating your hair, which is so important if you are constantly in and out of the beach and pool during your getaway. Now, I know you are looking at the packaging wondering how you will pack that into your luggage without taking up too much space. I love that the packaging comes with a pump, which makes it so easy to just pour a good amount into some travel toiletry bottles.
Goody Hair ties: I like to travel with hair ties that I can use for a quick pony, and smaller elastic ones to tie braids and smaller sections of my hair. Both take up very little space in your luggage and come in so handy, especially for the hairstyles I am about to show you.
Conair Bobby Pins: While on vacation, I opt for bobby pins instead of clips to hold up my hair in sections because they take up less space when packing and don’t run the risk of breaking like the plastic alternatives do. Plus, there is always a need for bobby pins; sometimes you just need to hold stubborn hair in place.
That is all you will need to add to your list for hair care—super simple and easy to pack.
Let’s face it: Not all vacations include a beach. So for those vacation spots that lack a beach, this hairstyle will bring the beach to wherever you are, or at least make it seem like you just left a beach.
What you will need: Conair Curling wand and a comb or brush.
Step 1: Part your hair into different sections. This will make it easier to get the sections in the back.
Step 2: Part your hair into 1.5-inch sections and start curling your hair away from your face.
Step 3: Continue doing step 2 all around your head. When you finish your last curl, comb through it to loosen any tight curls.
This hairstyle may look difficult, but it is the quickest and easiest to create out of the three. This is the perfect hairstyle for any vacation, but I always do this hairstyle at the beach or on very hot, humid days when the best hairstyles are the ones that keep your hair away from your face.
What you will need: Hair tie
Step 1: Create a side part at the top of your head (I parted my hair to my right).
Step 2: Part that section in two and bring the front over the top section. Next, you are going to add more hair to the front section and bring it to the back. Continue this step all the way through.
Step 3: When you get to your shoulder area, you will run out of hair to add. You should continue the crisscross pattern with the two sections you have going.
Last but not least, one of the most foolproof looks I have ever tried. This is so easy to create and the results are amazing. This braid can be easily worn day and night.
What you will need: Rubber band hair ties and bobby pins.
Step 1: Grab a section of hair at the top of your head and tie it with a rubber band. Once you tie the pony, flip it towards the front of your head and clip it with a bobby pin.
Step 2: Grab sections of hair from both sides and create a new pony tail. Unclip the first ponytail and split it in half. Bring it under the second ponytail.
Step 3: Flip the second ponytail to the front of your head and continue repeating steps 1 and 2 until you get to the end. Tie the bottom with a hair tie. Now, to add extra volume to your braid, gently pull on the sides from the top down.
Now you will be picture perfect in all your vacation pictures. I hope you all enjoy your summer and whatever vacation you have planned. If you decide to re-create any of these looks, don’t forget to tag me. I would love to see how you rock your vacation hair.
